Hey there! I’m Melissa, a self-taught interior designer based in Kansas City.
My passion in work: creating inspired, timeless designs within the home that evoke a sense of warmth, comfort, and sophistication.
I appreciate quality craftsmanship, but I also understand how to mix heirloom pieces with everyday styling in order to elevate a space without breaking the bank.
My passion at home: I love to entertain. I love cooking.

Have you all heard of @katiemuldercreative ? She’s amazing! She’s a local Kansas City artist and Mama, that turned her nap time passion into the career of her dreams.
Last week, we were reminiscing about how a few years ago we were sitting in her car connecting over our individual passions and how excited we were to build something great by doing what we love.
Well, this girl went ahead and did just that. Katie’s beautiful Art was recently picked up by no other than Joanna Gains for her line.

Charleston is an inspiration destination in my mind. Such a beautiful city. The houses, the streets, the food, don’t get me started on the cobblestone. 😭😍 My honey and I can’t wait to come back to this romantic city ASAP!

Trust me, I’m all about the 🙌 amazing earthy warm pallet trend that’s all over but there’s something to be said about the timeless capabilities of a texture heavy, white and grey palette. It’s classic and in my mind and will always be current. Never leave me old faithful. 💕

Finally, I can show you what I’ve been consumed with for the last two months. This is our new home in its current state. Our incredible architect and friend @adamapfeifer has taken my drawings, floor plans and design ideas and created a “to scale” version of what I saw in my head the first time we walked through this house. Long before it was ours.
We’re so close to finishing the design. Literally, last on the todo list is deciding on the exterior window selections. I need your help!

I love mixing window colors, and sizes to give a give a home a more curated and intentional design look. The white window dormers above the black or bronze lower windows are a must for me but what do you think about the windows on the right side of the house? Should we go bronze with white shutters? Bronze or black with no shutters or white windows with black shutters?

It’s official, We’re moving 😭 🥰 and I’m having some very mixed feelings about it. We found the perfect fixer upper a few blocks away. On one hand I can’t wait to show you all the plans I have to make this our forever home but on the other, I feel like I’m cheating on our house.
I know, some of you are thinking “Oh come on, it’s just a house” but it’s not just a house to me. This house is the very first place I ever felt at home, ever! It it is where I became a wife, a mom and because of the renovation on this house, I was inspired to start my own interior design business. I quite literally, emotionally grew up here. This house made it feel safe to do so.
A few weeks ago we took these pictures in anticipation of moving. I wanted all of us to remember making pancakes on Saturday morning here, Will launching the girls into the the air on to our bed, the living room filled with boxes that the girls constantly crawl in and out of. Real life GOOD stuff, the stuff I know we’re going to miss the most.
